What does DealVital actually do?
We generate the documents owners need when exploring a sale — a Valuation Report (which includes a one-page Anonymous Profile for confidential outreach) and a full CIM (which includes a Buyer Profiles Report of 50 ranked acquirers). Plus a free Valuation Calculator that gives you a directional value range in 90 seconds before you spend anything.
Who is this for?
Small business owners exploring a sale — typically $500K to $25M in revenue, $100K to $5M in SDE or EBITDA, in industries like services, distribution, manufacturing, light industrial, ecommerce, and SaaS. If you're just curious about value, the free Valuation Calculator gives you a directional estimate in 90 seconds. If you're seriously evaluating a sale, the $199 Valuation Report or the $499 Complete Deal Package covers everything.
What's the difference between the free Calculator and the $199 Valuation Report?
The Calculator gives you a directional value range based on industry-typical multiples and your inputs, in 90 seconds, emailed as a half-page analysis. It deliberately does not name specific buyers or comparable transactions. The $199 Valuation Report is a 15-25 page branded PDF with comparable transactions, three scenarios, value drivers and detractors, an Anonymous Profile supplement, and a 2-week private data room for sharing with prospective buyers.
How is this different from ChatGPT?
ChatGPT can write a paragraph about your valuation. We run a structured multi-pass workflow that produces a thirty-to-fifty page CIM, a 50-buyer ranked list with per-buyer rationale drawn from real public acquisitions, and branded Word/PDF/PPTX/Excel files. The wrapper is the product — that's the work that a single prompt can't do.
How is this different from hiring an M&A advisor?
We're not an advisor. We give you research and documents you can use to evaluate your options on your own, share with a trusted advisor of your choice, or both. Many owners use DealVital before deciding whether to engage an advisor; some advisors use DealVital outputs as a starting point with their clients.
Pricing & subscriptions
How does the Complete Deal Package work?
$499 gets you everything in one package — the Valuation Report (with Anonymous Profile included), the Full CIM (with Buyer Profiles Report included), and a 4-week private data room covering all of it. The Complete Deal Package is designed for owners who want every deliverable up front with a single sharing window.
One-time vs. subscription — which should I pick?
Most owners only need a one-time purchase — one Valuation Report, one CIM, or the Complete Deal Package. Subscriptions (Advisor Basic at $499/month, Standard at $899/month, Pro at $1,299/month) are priced for advisors, consultants, and frequent users who run multiple deals over time. If you're an owner with one business and a single sale process, buy a one-time report.
What if I exceed my subscription's credit allotment?
Your subscription auto-upgrades to the next tier for the rest of the billing cycle, with the prorated price difference charged. If you're on Advisor Basic (10 credits) and generate your 11th credit-worth of reports this month, your account moves to Standard for the remainder of the cycle and 20 credits total are unlocked. Same pattern Standard to Pro at credit 21. No hard stops; the upgrade is shown and confirmed before any extra charge runs. If you'd prefer overflow capacity without changing tier, buy a credit pack — credits never expire and apply on top of your subscription allotment.
Subscription vs. credit packs — which should I pick?
Subscribe if you're an advisor or frequent user running multiple deals and want always-on private data rooms plus quarterly or monthly market refreshes. Buy credit packs if you generate occasional reports and don't want a monthly commitment, or if you're already subscribed and want overflow capacity without upgrading tier permanently. Credit packs never expire.
What happens if I cancel my subscription?
One-click cancel from your dashboard, no email-based dark patterns. Your downloaded reports stay yours. Remaining credits in your subscription period stay available through the end of that cycle. Your private data room locks at cycle end until you subscribe again, buy a new report, or buy a credit pack.
Refund policy?
The Calculator is free. For paid reports, if a generation fails technically (server error, broken document, missing sections), we regenerate or refund. For "I changed my mind after seeing the output" — we don't offer refunds, because the output is the product and we can't take it back.
Process & accuracy
How long does the whole thing take?
Free Valuation Calculator: about 90 seconds. Full Valuation Report or CIM generation: about twenty minutes after a fifteen-minute diagnostic. Reviewing and tuning the output: an hour if you want to fine-tune. Most owners go from "started the diagnostic" to "downloaded the report" in under two hours.
How accurate are the valuations?
Our valuations are illustrative ranges based on comparable-transaction patterns for businesses with characteristics like yours. They're useful for decision-making — should I be talking to buyers, what's the rough zone, what would improve my number — and they're not formal opinions of value. A certified valuation analyst produces formal opinions; that's a different product at a different price.
Where does the comp data come from?
Public sources, primarily: SEC EDGAR 8-K filings on completed acquisitions, BizBuySell completed transactions, public press releases (PRNewswire, BusinessWire, GlobeNewswire), state business registries, SBA loan disclosures, and free summaries from DealStats and BVR. We don't use private databases like PitchBook or Capital IQ — those would force us to price like them.
What if I provide wrong or estimated numbers?
Output quality tracks input quality. We're generating illustrative ranges, so reasonable estimates work fine — better than refusing to start because you don't have audited financials. The diagnostic asks for ranges where exact numbers are unlikely to exist; the output reflects the ranges you provide.
Data room & sharing
How does the data room work?
Every purchase comes with a branded microsite at dealvital.com/deal/your-slug. You add buyer emails; we send each one a magic link that grants access after they accept your NDA. Documents are watermarked per-buyer on download. You see who opened what, who downloaded what, and when. Q&A and offers thread inside the page.
How long does my data room stay active?
Two weeks for one-time Valuation Report purchases. Four weeks for one-time Full CIM and Complete Deal Package purchases. Always active on any subscription tier. After a one-time window expires the page locks; any subscription unlocks it again instantly.
What does a buyer actually see?
Before NDA — only the Anonymous Profile (if you've shared one) and the broad description. After NDA — whichever documents you've added to the data room, all watermarked with that buyer's identity. They can leave questions, submit indications of interest, and message you. They cannot see other buyers.
Can buyers download documents?
Yes, with per-buyer watermarking. If a document leaks, the watermark identifies which buyer leaked it.
Methodology & limits
Why "illustrative ranges" instead of formal opinions?
Formal opinions of value are issued by certified valuation analysts (ASA, CBA, ABV credentials) who carry insurance for that opinion and follow a specific methodology. We're not that — we generate ranges grounded in comparable-transaction data, useful for owner-side decision-making and buyer-side negotiation context. If you need a formal opinion for a divorce, estate, or litigation, hire a certified analyst; that's a $5,000–$15,000 engagement and a different product.
How does buyer matching work?
We match your business characteristics (industry, size, geography, business model, EBITDA range, growth profile) against a database of public acquirers — PE firms with documented platform investments and add-on history, strategic acquirers with documented acquisition track records, and family offices with disclosed transactions. The rationale on each buyer is generated from their actual public acquisition history, not invented.
What you can't do for me
We don't introduce you to buyers. We don't negotiate. We don't structure deals. We don't hold your money. We don't run your process. We give you research and documents; the deal is yours to run.
Legal & confidentiality
Are you a broker?
No. We don't represent either party, don't facilitate transactions, don't take success fees, don't hold escrow. We're an information services and document automation platform — closer to LegalZoom (legal documents) or TurboTax (tax preparation) than to a broker-dealer.
Are you an investment adviser or M&A advisor?
No to both. We don't make recommendations on whether to sell, when to sell, or to whom. We don't act as a fiduciary. We don't accept compensation tied to a transaction outcome.
Is my information confidential?
Your diagnostic data and documents are private to your account. We use the data to generate your deliverables and improve the platform; we don't sell it. Deal-page buyers see only what you grant them access to. Full details in our privacy policy.
